Save Hanuman Temple@Jersey City

ShriHanumanji1.JPEG                             Our Hanuman Temple (now run by non-profit trust) was established in 2008 by the Patel family at 781 Newark Ave 3rd fl (in front of Jersey City Patel Brothers Indian Grocery Store). Thousands of New York/New Jersey residents have benefited from its services, including live Sunderkand sessions followed by Maha-Bhog (prasad) every Saturday, and celebrations of various religious festivals like Ram Navami and Janmashtami.

Recently, the Patel family, who originally owned the building, decided to sell it due to the sudden demise of Mr. Manu Bhai Patel. Now run solely by selfless devotees and volunteers, the temple has never sought financial gain but has operated on the principle of community contribution and service. BCB Bank, the new owner, initially promised to maintain the temple if they paid fair rent. However, after a change in the Bank's management, BCB demanded an unreasonably high rent, threatening the temple's existence. Against the original spirit of the sale of the building and the noble intention of supporting the Indian community, BCB Bank has now filed an unjust civil lawsuit in the court.

This petition aims to fight for the temple's preservation by asking BCB bank to honor their promise and our community’s hard-earned existence of our culture, tradition and faith. For generations, we have made Newark Ave - Indian Street a home away from home, so please join us to protect the sacred space of Lord Hanuman Temple and uphold the values of unity in diversity with compassion.
