Justice for Logan – Stop the Cruelty Against Friendly Campus Dogs at UMSKAL

We, the students and concerned members of the public, demand justice for Logan, a gentle street dog who has peacefully lived at Universiti Malaysia Sabah Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan (UMSKAL), offering nothing but safety, loyalty, and quiet companionship to students.

Logan is not a threat. He has never bitten, chased, or attacked anyone. For years, he has watched over us during late nights, walking beside lone students and guarding us like family. He is not just a dog, he is part of our community.

Yet on 7th May 2025, officers from the Pejabat Kesihatan dan Keselamatan arrived to capture him. A few of us students ran back and forth to protect him, risking punishment and physical injury. But they found him. And they sedated him — unnecessarily, violently, and without proof that he posed any danger. He lay unconscious, tongue hanging out, as we stood there helpless and heartbroken.

Despite all of our arguments, tears nd pleading on our knees, yet humanity didn’t work. Only after emotional begging did they agree to release Logan, but only if he is removed permanently from campus. This is cruelty. This is not how community animals or students should be treated.

When questioned, the authorities said, “You may feel comfortable, but others may not.” But discomfort is not the same as danger. Hence, We are here pleasing and hoping that more students would sign up this petition to show as a prove that no, we are not discomfort by Logan, let's show the number of students that wants him to be here, and love him as well.

We demand:

1. The immediate safe release and protection of Logan

2. An official investigation into the actions taken by the authorities on 7th May

3. A public explanation and written report from the Pejabat Kesihatan & Keselamatan

4. The right to keep peaceful, non-threatening animals like Logan on campus, with proper vaccination, monitoring, and care

5. An end to fear, sedation, and cruelty in the handling of community animals

Logan has protected us. Today, we must stand to protect him — and every voiceless animal like him. What happened to Logan should never happen again at UMSKAL, or anywhere in Malaysia.

Sign this petition. Raise your voice. Let compassion win over cruelty.
