Ethekweni is supposedly the fore runner on environmental issues. But it is politics and we their voters need to show our loss of faith in them. They are two faced and blatant liars. And it is a race thing to whites are not allowed anywhere

Not all change is good. We have to hold on to some things for as long as possible.

The Stables is a venue I visit to relax. The shopping is unique and the food is fresh and tasty. It offers something for everyone.

I used to ride there as a kid and I'm sick of the government just destroying everything in the name of money!

The petition is signed because the stable teaches children from all backgrounds to ride which is therapeutic and teaches them empathy and confidence. The football academy can be located elsewhere.

Becuase government cannot destroy stables in the name of promoting a sport our national team suck at! Horses offer so much more to a person than soccer ever can

Because I love those gorgeous animals and visiting the stables give you that feeling of country freedom in the middle of the city. Those who own horses would like to spend as much time as possible with their horses too, and what would durban beach be without our mounted police.

We host one of the biggest horse racing events, the Durban July, in our city but won't have stables? Now that doesn't make sense!

Its totally outrageous that due process was not followed. The livelihoods of people and animals seem to mean nothing to these people!

Disagree with sudden forced removal of a historical landmark when ample soccer facilities are available and underutilised less than 1 Km away at Moses Mabhida for example. There is also land at Natal command that could be utilised for a soccer facility if really necessary while retaining New Market. Basically dont see why this eviction needs to happen except as an ill considered council decision.

I am and will always be a horsy minion. Every child should be given the opportunity to be at least one ponys minion! Furthermore, we have a mounted unit, where are these horses stabled? Surely it makes sense to have them close to the areas they patrol?

For a city who hosted the Global Environment Summit ... put your money where your mouth is eThekwini - don't change every little bit of green in our city to concrete. Don’t take away what is working when there is so many other options you can explore on already vacant pieces of land. Gandhi said: Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed!” Remember that the rate payers of this city pay your salaries and the rate payers are getting tired of the way this municipality is being run ... every person affected by the closure of Newmarket, for yet another money wasting venture, their families and friends will certainly remember this when it comes to voting. It is really sad when the city stops listening to their people and bragging about how smart they are with “planning” … oh how the mighty fall! The eThekwini vision is “By 2030 the eThekwini Municipality will enjoy the reputation of being Africa's most liveable city, where ALL citizens live in harmony. This vision will be achieved by growing it's economy and MEETING PEOPLE'S NEEDS so that ALL citizens enjoy a high quality of life with EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, in a city that they are truly proud of.” So once again I say eThekwini, put your money where your mouth is because the people are losing faith in what you say you stand for and what you are actually doing … SAVE NEWMARKET STABLES!
