A great restaurant that I am intending to revisit when I get back to Edinburgh next month. It stands for something that I fully endorse. Keep up the good work Pomegranate and do not be dissuaded.

Yet again our council bows diwn to the predigious and stupidity of people who truly should not be listened to and ruin the lively hood of hard working people. A petition to get rid of our moronic council would not go amiss.

I had a lovely lunch in this restaurant and commented on how beautiful the decor was. The staff were so friendly and kind when my friend's little boy came in upset. I hope the Council will realise what a big mistake they have made and reverse their decision. It would be very embarrassing for them to be seen to be supporting a nasty campaign against this lovely restaurant which many are perceiving as being founded in racism

I love this restaurant and so my work colleagues.....the signage is beautiful and stylish and the food and ambience is great. I cannot believe that someone can complain about the exterior....it's a great community and visual asset to the area

The Indian restaurant opposite has really bright and tacky signage whilst Pomegranate is really tastefull.

The reasons behind this complaint seem quite sinister. Not cool at all :(

how shocking is this, it sounds like a touch of racism to me, if they had no problem when it was an italian restaurant, the frontage is sublte & unoffensive

Council supported racism. Plain and simple.

Surely this must contravene the Equalities legislation.

I am saddened by this action - we always seem to take the side of the complainer and do not question their motives and reasons.
Small businesses need to feel part of the local community and I am glad that they are now showing their support for your wonderful restaurant.

Fantastic restaurant, one of the best in Edinburgh. What happened to supporting local, small businesses to survive. May as well take their towel and throw it in for them. Deeply saddened by this lack of support.

I am sick to the back teeth of the little busy-bodies within our council pushing local business owners around with regards to the exterior of their premises.
In this particular instance regarding the Pomegranate Restaurant, only 200 yards around the corner at Picardy Place in a much more prominent site within the supposed World Heritage Site, we now have a Tesco store, fully illuminated from dawn until dusk, with pavement advertising too!
This seems like a case of double standards. It seems like the council are acting like cowardly bullies, afraid to take on the might of Tesco, whilst only too happy to penalise, pester & punish small business owners over trivialities such as lighting and decorative measures intended to increase business in these difficult financial times. Lord knows the local business owners located on this pathetic excuse of a Tram "network" have suffered enough at the hands of this council and it's corrupt management.
Leave local business owners alone!

If Arabic script is offensive, then so are the numerals 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0...which are also Arabic. The complainer is obviously a member of the tribe of "arse biscuit"

Lets not forget the house of parliament beside Arthurs Seat and Holyrood Palace....... Because its not offensive at all!

Agree with so many comments on this page - how can one set of standards apply to one restaurant but not others within the vicinity? Personally I am more offended by the Lloyds at the Omni Centre promoting cheap alcohol.
