What a position to put this person in by saying she can keep her dogs then a year later she has to get rid of one.. These dogs are her family and one is 10 years old and the other 7 i hate to say it but there's not many years left for one. So why not just ask her not to replace the elderly dog with a young one. Allow her to keep both till then. What harm can it do. She is trying to do everything you have asked but this is too much. To have to get rid of family members is heartbreaking. Please don't make her.

This is very unfair if it is true she was told she can have two dogs and then the council changed their minds. The dogs are not youngster one of them is ten why cant they allow her to keep both and when one passes she cant get another?

Dogs are our best friends and should be at home with us....for some of us they are our only company, we love them and that's that!!!!!!!!

She appears to have regarded all the rules and council has not investigated fully or raised concerns very draconian move also more importantly why should the dogs be separated after all this time that is cruel as they are unlikely to be rehomed by the council awful bullying tactics

The council should have made this decision when tenancy and first visit done, not a year later. Why split two dogs who are well cared for and have a responsible owner.

I have signed this as I feel it's disgusting that they are making this lady choose. Should be ashamed.

i am a dog behaviourist, i think it is narrow minded, ignorant and petty that a lovely dog should be forced from a caring home to appease the vanity of control freaks . outrageous !

It's thanks to these kind of property landlords that so many dogs are dumped !

The council should behave more responsibly.

I have been through a similar situation. It is heart-breaking to think one may be separated from their pets. They are like children to us.

I have 5 dogs, they are my friends and companions, well trained and reasonably obedient, dogs do a lot less damage than out of control children and are much nicer to live with. Also dogs don't cost the state anything, children cost the state a lot.

Everyone has a right to do as they wish in thier home and it is unfair to punish some one for providing a loving home to her pets, if they are causing no damage what harm are they causing!

Outrageous and unfair. How can they make you choose between your furbabies. Unecessarily breaking 3 hearts. So cruel. I hope all works out for you.

Dogs look very friendly and well cared for so cannot see why one should be removed as this would cause stress to the dogs and the owners.

Allowing someone to move in with 2 dogs then a year later claiming they are in breach of their tenancy agreement is just cruel.

My animals are family not pets. And I'm positive that these dogs are her family. You're not supposed to have to give up family.

No one should have a contract changed after an extended period of time. Council is completely out of order especially after already agreeing to the conditions.

What right do they have to decide about the number of dogs? Do they decide on the number of brats people have?

it is outrageous and wrong to tell anyone that they must get rid of a family member,

#1: -  have you had legal advice .it seems to me if they let you house them in the first place and if its not in the lease that you cant have pets.they shouldnt be able to do this.has there been any objections by neighbours. ask around if they are willing to back you too.you could point out to them that if your pets are being requested to go that theirs may be next. as you already said others had pets too.hope this helps x

It's a very unjust unfair excuse for a reason to make someone rehome a love companion!
