As someone who has always felt a deep spiritual connection with this monument, it saddens me to think one of my dreams may be ruined by housing. Summer solstice is a most important day to me and to be able to go to England and share that ritual day at Stonehenge has been a dream of mine, the pull to go there is so intense. It has been like my ancestors calling me to share in their experiences. Please don't take that from me or others.

Plenty of room to build elsewhere so, why totally ruin Stonehenge? Its beyond me why the 'powers that be' have to destroy everything that means something to people/or and the environment.

This is a site of spiritual importance as well as a site of natural beauty, to even think of building there is a massive insult not just to the spiritual community in Britain but to people all over the world who appreciate such rare treasures.

Our ancient heritage must be protected at all costs. Please reconsider constructing these buildings else where. Future generations will either thank you for preserving this area, or wonder what on earth these planners where thinking of. Chose wisely. Think carefully. Protect our heritage, our identity.

The world is systematically being ridden of all its ancient historic landmarks. The significant and important values taught throughout the many millennia's at these important sites are being completely destroyed in favour of the industrialised militarised murderous entities that exist only to kill and destroy. The military these days are not here to protect YOU, it is here to protect the government and its many secrets and friends such as mega corporations. STAND UP AGAINST THIS AND STOP THE EVIL THAT IS BLEEDING THROUGH THE PAGES OF OUR HISTORY!

They can not be allowed to do this to something that is frankly holy to me , I am pagan that site is sacred to me and thousands of others , they would not even consider doing this to a christian site please do not let the mistakes of the past occur again .

Please do not allow the Stonehenge to be marred by development and commercialism. It would be a travesty to lose such an important part of human history.

there is plenty of land to build houses away from this site. houses will take the magic and mystery away from it.

This bureaucracy is killing the English country side in more ways than we realise. I am from Birmingham UK. and am very sad at what I see happening to Britain, especially with all the cameras and human rights violations.

They can't build there. It's historic land of the ancients...let it be. There is plenty of army land they can use instead. Or better still do up all the old barracks in the area!

I'm amazed how people can be so stupid that they can even think of building houses in close of such world heritage! There you can see how little our government cares about our out of the old story! idiots

having a clear horizon on solstice is part of a spirituality that transcend religious beliefs. it is part of the national heritage just as much as the monument itself and must be preserved.

Today's generation are the current caretakers for ensuring the continued preservation of our ancestral heritage sites. Please do not let our future children down by building at a point which will disturb the solstice sunrise and the mysticism of the site.

I had the pleasure to walk among the stone, feel and touch them as well as participate in a lovely blessing ceremony while there as part of a private tour in 2009. This site should be accessible to everyone and not denigrated to the point of trying to replicate a Disney-like atmosphere. It is sacred space and should be treated as such!
