Students Supporting CUE Faculty Association

While we as current students, alumni and members of the community understand that labour disputes do occur, we cannot sit idly by while the faculty continue to be negatively impacted by the University administration's unsustainable, aggressive and inflammatory labour relations strategies.  This is becoming an increasing issue at not only our school and we share the prevailing sentiment that: Faculty working conditions are student learning conditions While there are a number of issues left unr

Keep the Bow Valley Parkway closed!

We are asking Parks Canada to keep the eastern 17km section of the Bow Valley Parkway (from Highway 1 junction to Johnston Canyon parking lot) CAR-FREE FROM MAY TO THE END OF SEPTEMBER SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.   We don't think that the two proposed options go far enough because they do not include the busiest months of July and August.   We love this safe way of exercising and call on Parks Canada to keep providing this high-quality and environmentally friendly experience to locals and visitors foreve

Citizens of Nanaimo demand a revision of the proposed budget/tax increase for a revenue neutral 2022. No new increased spending/taxation.

The City of Nanaimo's website clearly states the following:  The Community Charter gives Council the authority to set budgets, levy taxes and establish policies to guide the growth, development and operation of the City for the benefit and protection of its residents. We, the undersigned, believe that the Nanaimo City Council is violating its Charter by way of exorbitant spending and property tax hikes, disregarding the benefit and protection of its residents. 2022 is not a normal year. South Frontenac residents' request for enactment of a Short Term Rental Policy and enhanced Bylaws

It is the view of the undersigned that there is a stringent need to inspect, license, monitor and control STRs. Especially in the case of the systematic encroachment by individuals, group investors and property management companies who target home purchases for rental income, often from outside the township, leading to unsupervised, large occupancy rentals.
